Abstract : Health is wealth, this is a well known proverb is applicable for all
Indians, but due to poverty, big family size, low literacy rate the Dhankut of district
Bahraich of Uttar Pradesh are victims of poor health. They do not have sufficient money
for medicine or doctor. In India, the number of doctors as compared to its population is
dismal. It is a difficult task to make available good health to everyone by any
government. In this regard, many traditional communities depend upon nature and its
products, which is known as Ethnomedicine. Dhankut cure their disease by using
different plants in the form of remedies e.g. Neem, Peepal, etc.
In this paper, I have tried to show the use of different plants as remedy in the form of
Ethnomedicine, which fulfil the requirements of a doctor in a Dhankut 's life.
