Abstract
Today racial classification is almost meaningless. Migration due to poverty,
and other social problems is very much frequent. In this regard, it is very
much difficult to locate the original place of a group. The basic requirement
of a man is food, sex and protection. When a group feels the scarcity of food
in a certain place, it migrates from there and enters into a new atmosphere or
place. They don’t leave their past culture totally, while residing in a new
place, previous cultural traits remain. Culture is defined as a total way of life
of man, whereas ecology gives meaning to the interaction between man and
environment. So the way of life (culture) is related to
environment(reproduction and survival of man) in which he lives. So
culture and ecology may be useful as parameters to know the original place
of a group, who have migrated from an unknown place and don’t know
anything about their past. In this situation, if minute observation is carried
on their culture, we can know the ecological zone from where they came.
In the present paper, it has been tried to decipher the original inhabitation
land or place of a group by using culture and ecology as a parameter.
